London Limb Reconstruction at The Portland Hospital

What is limb reconstruction?

Limb reconstruction aims to restore function to deformed and/or shortened limbs in adults and children. Deformity and shortening may be present at birth (congenital) or may occur as a result of injury or infection (acquired). The commonest cause overall is trauma - particularly fractures that do not heal properly or do not heal at all.

Treatment may involve conventional plastic surgery techniques such as skin grafting and scar revision as well as orthopaedic surgery including limb lengthening.

Why choose London Limb Reconstruction?

London Limb Reconstruction is the only private limb reconstruction team in London and offers a unique grouping of reconstructive orthopaedic and plastic surgeons providing a full range of treatment options to adults and children. This includes reconstructive orthopaedic techniques such as limb lengthening and deformity correction with the llizarov and Spatial frames and other methods of limb length equalisation in children and adults. We also offer a full reconstructive plastic surgery service including scar revision, skin grafting and flaps.

Our consultants have experience and expertise in the management of rare congenital and acquired deformities as well as in the management of post traumatic degenerative arthritis in young patients.

London Limb Reconstruction is based at The Portland Hospital which is where most clinics are held. Surgery is carried out at the Portland Hospital for Children and adult patients may have surgery at The Princess Grace or The Wellington Hospital. All are internationally renowned hospitals owned by HCA International.
